I recently had the opportunity to present at a PechaKucha event. The word itself means \u201cchitchat\u201d in Japanese and is a presentation format with a strict structure; twenty slides, each moving forward automatically after twenty seconds. I thought I would share some thoughts pk style.<\/span><\/div>\n

  1. The aim of the presentation should be to deliver a story<\/a> or concept.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. \n
  3. \n
    Plan\/brainstorm analogue (pencil and paper) to determine your story<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  4. \n
  5. \n
    Storyboard twenty slides: Introduction 2 or 3; Climax and conclusion 2 or 3 and fourteen remaining steps.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  6. \n
    Write<\/b> these individual steps on the slides<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  7. \n
    Write<\/b>, for each step, two sentences, maximum forty words total.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  8. \n
    Practise and time each slide you have constructed, maximum 18 seconds, edit as needed.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  9. \n
    Chose bold, clear images to support each individual point and add to software. (p2)<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  10. \n
    Consider making 1st<\/sup> and closing or climax image the same.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  11. \n
  12. \n
    Get rid of the script and practise again and again rigorously sticking to time.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  13. \n
    When performing use a stopwatch\/timer to maximise your ability to stay within time.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  14. \n
    Relax and enjoy yourself as you deliver your story.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  15. \n
    Look at the audience not your slides.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  16. \n
    Blend over into next slide if less than 3 seconds, pause if more than 3 seconds.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  17. \n
    If you stumble, you stumble. The audience is with you, not against you. Don’t panic.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  18. \n
    Don’t pause long for laughter, speaking will bring the audience back.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  19. \n
    Make sure whatever happens that you deliver the climax\/conclusion clearly.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  20. \n
