In the classification I have developed as part of the thinking about presentations I have detailed the “PowerPoint” as p2, supportive media. The inference is clear that this neither represents the totality of the presentation as so frequently happens but is only supportive to the message that is delivered. Directly addressing this issue is essential to any progress in improving the majority of presentations.
More and more I recognise how difficult this step actually is. The reasons for this difficulty are multiple and complex and would fill many blog posts but what is most important is neither the causation nor reluctance to change but simply recognising the redundancy of the established PowerPoint.
This sign on the M6 toll road for me epitomises the problem and points towards its own obselesence.
