The Longest Day

the longest day

On the 21st June 2021, the sun rises at 0440 and sets at 2130; the Longest Day. On that day I shall be cycling from sunrise to sunset as a personal challenge. That will be my Longest Day. For others, that description of the “Longest Day” might describe a time waiting for a diagnosis, the duration of an operation, or those last precious moments with a loved one. For each of us, The Longest Day means something different.

It is an odd but accepted thing that if one person undertakes a challenge, on the strength of this, they can ask friends and family to support a chosen charity. This event is a little different. I’m going to undertake the challenge. If you would like to reward that then please consider supporting a charity, any charity, that reflects your Longest Day. All I would ask is that you add your name to this form to show which charity you have supported. Please also considering leaving a note about why you have done so; that will inspire me.

If you have no specific charity in mind to reflect your Longest Day may I suggest that you may like to support one of my three chosen charities. Click on the link below for a more detailed explanation of the charities. On the page there is a link to the just giving site for your donation if you chose to make one. Each pages details more about the charity and has a link to their own homepages.

Tommy’s is a charity working to make the UK the safest place in the world to give birth, supported by people who refuse to accept that a baby’s death is just ‘one of those things’.

Coventry Myton Hospices is a charity that believes everyone matters for every single moment of their life; they focus on enhancing life when cure is no longer an option.

Sheffield Children’s Hospital, the hospital that I work at, aim to make every hospital visit better for the children and families whether that is for a simple Out Patient visit or on their “Longest Day”.

Please don’t feel obliged to support any charity. If you do, please be assured that whatever you give is hugely valued as the gift that it is. Please fill in this form just to let me know what you have decided. Nothing on the form will be shared publicly.

If you would like to follow the event live on 21st June this page will be tracking my progress. Or go to my Strava profile to see regular updates on my training. This was my last big training ride.

If you would like to support me ON the day, you could ride a circuit with me. Please check out this page with the details.

Thank you for visiting this page and for your support in whatever way you are able.

The Longest Day in support of your chosen charities.
